On Feb. 13, 2020, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)announced that the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) released the 2020 version of A Guide to HMDA Reporting: Getting it Right!. The 369-page guide provides summaries of key HMDA requirements and is useful in collecting and reporting data. The guide applies to data collected in 2020 and required to be reported by Mar. 1, 2021. The guide appendix was updated to reflect changes in the partial exemptions for reporting based on the number of mortgages originated and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating. The guide appendix was also updated to reflect the extension of the temporary increase in the HMDA coverage threshold for open-end lines of credit. For 2020 and 2021, the temporary threshold of 500 lines of credit in each of the preceding two calendar years remains in effect.
