Yesterday, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced its plan to launch a streamlined application portal for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) borrowers with loans of $150,000 or less to apply for loan forgiveness directly through the SBA. The new portal is sure to make the forgiveness process for smaller loans easier and will start accepting borrowers’ applications beginning Aug. 4, 2021.
On top of the new online platform, the SBA is assembling a PPP-specific customer service team to assist with concerns and directly help borrowers with their forgiveness applications. PPP borrowers who have questions or need assistance can call (877) 552-2692 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. EST.
