Andy Bains, CPA, and audit principal at Doeren Mayhew, has been appointed to the Accounting Advisory Council at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), where he will support educational initiatives and the university’s mission.
As an inaugural member of SHSU’s Accounting Advisory Council, Bains will work with university leadership and faculty in the Department of Accounting to help develop the council's framework, as well as develop relevant curriculum, programs and experiences that prepare students for successful careers in accounting.
“As a former Bearkat of Sam Houston State University, I am honored to give back to the university that played such a pivotal role in my career,” Bains said. “I look forward to supporting the next generation of accounting professionals and helping shape opportunities that will benefit students entering the accounting industry.”
Bains is a graduate of SHSU with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and brings over a decade of public accounting experience to his role on the council.
