What type of information is provided?

Data from your payroll files allows The Work Number®<\/sup> to provide information such as the below to verifiers:

  • Most recent hire date
  • Termination date (if no longer employed)
  • Total time employed
  • Job title
  • Rate of Pay
  • Gross earnings for current year to date, including base pay, overtime, and special compensation.

How can you ensure verification requests are legitimate?

The Work Number® is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which helps ensure verifiers have a valid reason to obtain employment information and employees can see who has requested their information and can dispute information that may be incorrect?

Who is considered a verifier?

All verifiers are required to complete a credentialing process prior to gaining access to employee information and provide permissible purpose for the verification. The network of over 375,000 credentialed verifiers utilizing The Work Number® includes, but is not limited to mortgage/auto lenders, property managers, credit card issuers, pre-employment screeners, and social service agencies.
